Very simple indeed!
- Make sure the option to provide Free membership has been selected in the Membership Settings page at the organisation level. See instructions.
- Create a "new" membership specifically to offer this complimentary membership. See instructions.
If you want to attach the free option to an existing membership, then edit the Billing Details of that membership.
It is advisable to create a free or complimentary membership separate from the membership payment plans that you offer in your organisation. This is because most of your memberships will either be on an ongoing basis or is meant for a longer fixed term. You wouldn't want to offer folks a free membership for life, do you? Well, in cases when you do, then it's not a problem either.
When you come to the Billing tab, in the membership's Membership Term field, ensure you specify the period given for the free membership. The default option is ongoing, so make sure you select the other option that enables you to enter your values if you are only providing free trial membership passes.
Then select Free as one of the offered rates.
Take note that a free membership will disregard any joining fee. For example, an ongoing Gold membership plan of $15.00 per week has a joining fee of $10.00. If you are offering it free to your staff customer, then the joining fee is automatically waived as well. So free means absolutely free!
Don't worry, free memberships will not be made available to customers or prospects in the online signup feature. For example, when you create the Gold membership, you need to select both the '1 week' and 'Free' options in the Billing Details section. Customers and prospects will only see the weekly rate option in the online signup form. To sign up a staff member to the free Gold membership, you will have to do so via the iconnect360 system application.
Well, that's all there is to it. Go ahead and offer me the complimentary membership now.
