You have selected and completed the membership details for the customer. So how in the world did the First Payment became an amount that differs from the membership rate? Does it make sense?
If you wonder why and wonder how, then here's a simple explanation.
Take a look at the itemised details of the First Payment. To do so, select the amount link.
First Payment Amount
The First Payment amount is automatically calculated by the system's logic and it may consist of:
- The Regular Payment, which is derived from the selected Membership Rate. This amount may be pro-rated based on your organisation’s billing settings. More Info.
To change the regular payment amount for the first payment, select the Edit link, enter the new amount and Save. Manually changing the first regular amount will not change or adjust subsequent regular payments. - The Joining Fee (if any). You can waive the fee by selecting the Remove icon. This action is permanent and irreversible. If you accidentally removed it, you can re-insert the joining fee as an additional payment in the next recurring debit. Learn More.
- The Load Fee (or Setup Fee), which is applied only to new customers paying with direct debit. If there is no “first payment”, i.e. the first regular payment and joining fee have been removed, the load fee will be charged in the next debit. You can choose to reallocate the load fee if the first debit has not taken place. Step instructions.
- The Transaction Fee (if applicable). The transaction fee is a commission fee payable to Ezypay each time a direct debit transaction occurs. This fee is charged to the customer if your organisation has not selected to absorb it.
First Payment Date
The First Payment date is also automatically determined by the system's logic in the following way.
If Membership Start date is… |
…and First payment will be collected… |
…then the First Payment date will be… |
today |
with direct debit |
the next working day. |
today |
with next scheduled direct debit |
on your organisation’s preferred billing day. |
today |
at the till |
today. |
on a future date |
at the till |
today. |
on a future date |
with direct debit |
on the membership start date. However if the date falls on a weekend or holiday, then the first payment date will be adjusted to the next working day after the membership start date. |
Armed with the above knowledge, you now have the ability and flexibility to adjust and customised your customer's first and recurring payments according to your customer's needs.
