You need to have the Customers > Manage Payment > Change Billing Rate site permission to change the customer's membership billing rate. See User and Roles.
There are two ways to access the Change Billing Rate function:
A. Change billing rate from the Memberships tab
B. Change billing rate from a Future debit in the Payments tab
The Change Billing Rate option is visible only when:
- The customer's membership status is Active or Active with Billing Issues.
- The customer's membership status is NOT Future, Expired, Cancelled, or Suspended.
- The customer's membership is not pending suspension or cancellation.
The Change Billing Rate option allows you to change a customer's membership billing rate from a specified date onwards.
A. Change billing rate from the Memberships tab
-
In the customer's page, select the Memberships tab.
-
For the membership that you wish to change, select the More Actions button and then select Change Billing Rate.
-
Enter a new Rate for the membership.
-
Enter an Effective Date for the new billing rate to take effect.
-
Enter the Notes section if applicable.
-

B. Change billing rate from a Future debit in the Payments tab
You can only change the billing rate of future debits in the Customer's record > Payments tab that have not been processed.
-
In the Payments tab of the customer's page, select a direct debit billing amount in which the status displays Future.
-
In the Debit Details pop-up window, select Change Billing Rate.
-
Enter a new Rate for the membership.
-
Enter an Effective Date for the new billing rate to take effect.
-
Enter the Notes section if applicable.
-
Select Save Changes.
The system would automatically generate and prorate the necessary payments when there are changes made to the membership's billing rate. A confirmation message appears at the top of the customer's page. All activities are recorded in the Timeline tab.
A customer's membership can only have one current billing rate and one future billing rate at any one time.
Once a future billing rate has been created for the customer, you need to perform the Undo Billing Rate Change action to undo the billing variation changes before a new set of billing rate can be applied to the customer's membership again.
